Presenting the Grand Wagnerian Spectacle – Berlin's Epic "Ring Tetralogy"

Prepare to embark on a mesmerizing journey into the heart of German opera as the extensively renovated Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin proudly presents Richard Wagner's monumental Ring Tetralogie. This awe-inspiring opera event promises to immerse you in the grandeur and drama of Wagner's magnum opus like never before, making you a part of the Wagnerian world where gods, heroes, and mythical creatures collide.

Under the masterful baton of Christian Thielemann, one of our most revered Wagnerian conductors, the Bühnenfestspiel orchestra will bring Wagner's legendary music to life with breathtaking intensity. The production is directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, a visionary in the opera world, who also serves as the set designer, crafting a visually striking interpretation of this operatic masterpiece.

As the curtains rise, you'll find yourself amid a Wagnerian world where gods, heroes, and mythical creatures collide. Michael Volle embodies the all-powerful Wotan, a role he has mastered in numerous Wagnerian performances. Anja Kampe, known for her powerful soprano, performs as the fearless Brünnhilde. Andreas Schager, acclaimed for his heroic tenor, takes on the role of Siegfried, bringing his unique interpretation to the stage. Sebastian Kohlhepp, a versatile tenor, portrays the cunning and fiery Loge, while Johannes Martin Kränzle masterfully embodies the sinister Alberich.

Adding to the brilliance of the cast, Claudia Mahnke commands the stage as Fricka, Clara Nadeshdin shines as Freia, and Anna Kissjudit delivers a deeply moving performance as Erda. The giants Fasolt and Fafner, played by Mika Karesand Peter Rose, loom large in the epic narrative. Meanwhile, Roman Trekel and Siyabonga Maqungo bring charisma to their roles as Donner and Froh, respectively.

The Rhine's magical waters are graced by the enchanting Rhinemaidens: Evelin Novak as Woglinde, Natalia Skrycka as Wellgunde, and Ekaterina Chayka-Rubinstein as Flosshilde. The haunting presence of Mime is vividly portrayed by Stephan Rügamer, completing a cast that promises to deliver an unforgettable Wagnerian experience.

We've done close to a dozen trips with The Aranis and I think I've seen enough to say it: they make it look easy. They've got the energy and sense of purpose to make it so the pieces all click together at the joints, and the tact to make you think they're having fun doing it, which means you have fun; perhaps they do too. We've got many fond memories of our trips with them and we look forward to more.
